Milestones Antiques & Vintage works alongside you to sort through what’s there, understand what it’s worth, and find the right path to move it — whether that means selling it, consigning it, or connecting you with a trusted partner who can help. We tailor our approach to your timeline, your goals, and the items themselves.
Step One: Your In-Home Consultation
We begin with an in-home walk-through, where we review your items, talk through your timeline and priorities, and outline the options that make the most sense for your situation. You’ll leave the consultation with a clear, no-obligation picture of what’s possible before any formal proposal is made.
A fee applies to your in-home consultation and walk-through. This fee is fully waived when you choose to move forward with Milestones on any of the options below.
Choosing Your Path
Depending on your timeline and goals, one option — or a combination — may be right for you:
1. Cash Offer / Flat-Fee Purchase
Milestones purchases eligible items outright for an agreed lump sum — the fastest, most hands-off route when items need to be gone quickly.
2. Concierge Consignment
We handle photography, pricing, marketing, and sale on your behalf, with proceeds split between you and Milestones. This option has two paths:
Brick & Mortar / Multi-Channel: Items are relocated to one of our retail spaces or sold through live markets and events, or listed online (eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Shopify/Past & Present Marketplace).
In-Home / Online Sale: Items are photographed and sold online while remaining in place at your home — typically best suited to timelines of 30–60 days or more. As a licensed real estate agent in Virginia, Maryland, and DC with MLS and lockbox access, Milestones can arrange sales even while a home is actively listed or under contract. 3. Estate Sale Referral
For full-home or high-volume liquidations, we can refer you to our trusted partner, Sale by Gale with Amy.
4. Auction House Placement
For select or higher-value items, we can facilitate consignment with one of the DMV area’s established auction houses.
How Concierge Consignment Works
The details behind our most flexible downsizing option
Concierge Consignment is Milestones’ full-service option for clients who’d rather sell their items than have them purchased outright or handled through an estate sale or auction house. We manage the entire process on your behalf — from pricing to marketing to the final sale — so you don’t have to.
What We Handle
- Photography and detailed descriptions for every item
- Market research and pricing, based on current comparable sales
- Marketing across our retail, market, and online channels
- Buyer inquiries, negotiation, and transaction handling
- Payment collection and coordination of pickup or delivery
Your split with Milestones depends on which path is used and where items ultimately sell — generally ranging from an even 50/50 to 65% Milestones / 35% Consignor on the higher end. The venue, labor, and marketing involved in each option factor into the final terms, which we’ll lay out clearly before any items are listed.
Reporting & Timeline
Items remain your property until sold, and you may request the return of any unsold item at any time. You’ll receive an initial accounting and payout within approximately three months of your items being listed, with ongoing updates for as long as any items remain active.
